Many years ago, there lived a king whose name was Kakudmi. He had a beautiful daughter named Revati. When it was time for her marriage, he could not find a suitable groom for her. Finally, he decided to go to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe himself for help . Using his yogic powers he reached Satyaloka, the abode of Lord Brahma along with his daughter.
When he reached Satyaloka, he saw that the Gandharvas were in a music performance. Not wanting to disturb them, he waited for several minutes. When the Gandharvas finally finished, he immediately went to Lord Brahma.
He introduced his daughter Revati to Lord Bramha and informed his purpose of visiting his abode. On Brahma’s request, the King listed out some of the names of the princes that he thought could be considered, so that Brahma could select any one of them for his daughter.
When Bramha heard this, he laughed at King Kakudmi and said, “ O king! You waited in Satyaloka for 1 hour. An hour (an hour is equal to a Muhurat) in Satyaloka is equal to several Yugas on earth! So, by now, while you were waiting, several Chaturyugas have passed by on earth, and all the people you knew in your era have died. Your descendants, and many more generations have passed by and your kingdom is long gone.
Hearing these words, King Kakudmi got scared. Then Bramha said, “In the current Chaturyuga, Dwapar yuga is going to end and Kaliyuga is going to start. So you go back to earth. In the place of your Kingdom and its capital, there is now Dwaraka. Lord Narayana has taken birth there as Shri Krishna and Adisesha as his elder brother, Balaram. So, I would suggest that you give your daughter’s hand in marriage to Balaram. King Kakudmi agreed and left. When he came back to earth, he found out that everything had changed. People were smaller in size. But when he went to Dwaraka, he found that Revati was taller than Balaram. Balaram used his powers to decrease the size of Revati to match the size of a human being at that time. Thus, Revati was married to Balaram.

The Story of King Kakudmi is found in the Bhagavata Purana is among the most ancient accounts suggesting that time is relative and is not constant….
Relativity of Time, an ‘Einstenian philosophy’ is what the myth appears to bring forth and can also be seen in concepts of cosmic time.See Also: The Concepts of Cosmic Time
Based on astronomical sightings and science, time is relative to the location in space/time one is found. As humans we only know time based on our universally accepted measurements of time. Time, as we know it, is immaterial and irrelevant in the rest of the cosmos.
